ACCUTRON CALLS ON COLLECTOR COMMUNITY TO CREATE NEW LEGACY COLLECTION INSPIRED BY THE PAST, BUILT FOR THE FUTURE

New York, NY (September 9, 2020) – Combining the timeless appeal of iconic design with the technical excellence of Swiss watchmaking precision, Accutron unveils the Legacy collection. Comprised of the revival of some of the most memorable 60s-70s Accutron styles, each a cultural and iconic design touchstone.

Destined to become coveted timepieces again today, the new Accutron Legacy collection is a reimagination of some of the brand’s most unique and storied timepieces. When selecting which watches from the past the brand should bring forward into the future, Accutron called on friends within the watch collector community.

In the fall of 2019, Accutron invited select watch collectors to the brand’s headquarters at the Empire State Building where they were asked to speak about their history with Accutron and identify those timepieces that not only had historical significance, but happened to be some of the most sought after vintage models known to date.

“The uniqueness of Accutron’s approach to the market is that the brand is actually leading from the bottom up, involving the collector community in an organic and authentic way,” says collector, Richard Callamaras. “The brand trusts the people, who for years have searched for, purchased and worn Accutron watches, to help guide them in creating the perfect timepieces for the future.”

The Accutron Legacy collection features an assortment of twelve watches, each limited to 600 pieces, and all powered by Accutron’s Swiss-made 26-jewel movement to guarantee superb quality and reliability.

The collection begins with the reimagining of two 1966 originals, known as the 203 and the 565, which have a visually distinctive asymmetrical case design and crown placement at 4 o’clock. The 203 model is offered in a 34mm gold- and silver-tone stainless steel case with a 3-hand champagne dial, Arabic numeral at 12 o’clock, and fine-line stick markers on the outer ring. The watch is featured on a brown croco-embossed leather strap with double-press deployant closure and priced at $1,450. The 565 has a cross-hatching detail added to the same visually distinctive asymmetrical case design. Featured in a silver-tone 34mm stainless steel case with 3-hand silver white dial, bold hour markers and outer minutes ring, the piece is finished on a black croco-embossed leather strap with double-press deployant closure and priced at $1,390.

Accutron draws inspiration from another 1960’s original, the 521. The new Accutron 521 also features a visually distinctive asymmetrical case design and crown placement near 3 o’clock, however the 32.8 x 32.5mm case dimension retains its original size for unisex wearability today. The first model is seen on a gold-tone stainless steel case and mesh style bracelet with double-press deployant closure, featuring a 3-hand silver white dial and stylized double-stick hour markers. This model is available for $1,550. The second model is presented in a gold-tone stainless steel case with 3-hand silver white dial and stylized double-stick hour markers. Finished on a brown lizard-embossed leather strap with double-press deployant buckle closure, this watch is priced at $1,450.

Staying within the 60s decade, Accutron releases two timepieces directly inspired by the vintage Accutron 505 from 1965. Showcased in a sleek, stand-out 33mm alpha case design with crown placement at 4 o’clock, the 505 is first offered in a silver-tone stainless steel case with a 3-hand silver white dial and silver-tone applied hour markers, finished on a black lizard-embossed leather strap and double-press deployant closure for $1,390. The second is available in a gold-tone stainless steel case and 3-hand silver white dial with gold-tone applied hour markers, finished on a brown croco-embossed leather strap and double-press deployant closure for $1,450.

The remaining watch within the Legacy collection that draws inspiration from this time period is the 1969 original 412, a tried and true classic model. Featuring a round case design and crown placement at 4 o’clock, the gold-tone 34mm stainless steel case features a 3-hand silver white dial with gold-tone applied and faceted hour markers. Finished on a black croco-embossed leather strap with double-press deployant closure, this new model is available for $1,450.

Moving onto the 1970’s for influence, the brand presents first a model inspired by the 1970 original, first-ever railroadapproved watch in wristwatch form. The Accutron R.R.-0 has a uniquely faceted railroad case design and crown placement at 4 o’clock. Offered in a 34mm stainless steel case with bold Arabic numerals and a bright white 24-hour dial, the timepiece features a 0 at the 12-hour mark to meet Canadian Railroad specs. A red second hand is used for accurate monitoring as the watch also includes a calendar feature and is finished on black leather strap with doublepress deployant closure. Priced at $1,290.

The year 1971 recalls two Accutron models, the 261 and the Day and Date “Q.” The new 261 reimagined timepieces offer a unique and stylish cushion case design and crown placement at 4 o’clock. The first version is offered in a 38.5mm silver-tone stainless steel case with bright teal dial, sculptured and applied markers and holds a calendar feature. Presented on a hand-stitched black leather strap with double-press deployant closure, the watch is available for $1,390. The second 261 version is offered in a 38.5mm gold-tone stainless steel case with a three-link bracelet and double-press deployant closure. Featuring a grey dial with sculptured and applied markers as well as a calendar feature, the watch is available for $1,550. The Accutron Day and Date “Q” is another 1971 vintage timepiece primarily remembered for its beautifully streamlined oval case design and crown placement at 4 o’clock. Seen with a silver-tone 34.5mm stainless steel case and dark blue dial the piece is presented with cool grey applied Roman numerals and a blue-accented day/date feature. Finished on a white accent-stitched dark blue leather grain strap, the new Day and Date “Q” is priced at $1,390.

To round out the Legacy collection, Accutron looks to the year 1974 and reinterprets the distinct 21343-9W model. The new 21343-9W watch boasts a uniquely handsome cushion case design with crown placement at 4 o’clock. The 38mm silver-tone stainless steel case features a rounded-corner shape and a three-link bracelet with double-press deployant closure. For added detail, the watch includes a silver-tone octagonal-like dial design with applied faceted hour markers and calendar feature, available for $1,490.

All timepieces within the Legacy collection feature sapphire crystal with AR coating, are water resistant to 30M and are limited editions to 600 pieces each.
