A watch to remember a loved one, celebrating new friends and a childhood passion revived – Oris fans share their stories
In our newsletter last week, we invited you to send us your Christmas present stories. We had so many entries, lots more than we expected. We said we’d share the one story that really captured the joy of Christmas, but in the end, we couldn’t split three of them. So, here they all are. (1) A time to remember David's (from Australia) story touched us. He has three sons. When their grandmother died, he decided to buy each of them an Oris Big Crown Pointer Date 80th Anniversary Edition to remember her by. He says: ‘I knew it was unlikely that a retailer would have three of these particular watches, so I rang Oris Australia directly. Luckily, they had the watches and shipped them to us before Christmas. Our boys are now the proud owners of an Oris Big Crown Pointer Date 80th Anniversary Edition.’ (2) Raising a mug We also loved Bruno’s (from Portugal) story. Bruno recently joined the Oris Social Club Lisbon and in October bought his ‘first Swiss watch’, an Oris Big Crown Pointer Date. At Christmas, the club sent him an Oris Bear mug and a baseball with a Roberto Clemente Foundation insignia. ‘My best gift!’ he says, adding: ‘It’s an awesome group. I can't wait to meet them again after restrictions have lifted.’ (3) Not just good on paper Then there was Henry (from the United States) who told us how lockdowns and restrictions brought on by Covid-19 have inspired dormant hobbies. ‘With the pandemic in full swing, I've found more time to revisit one of my passions as a child - drawing,’ he says. ‘For Christmas this year, my family bought me a beautiful canvas roll of pencils and Japanese black-ink pens. Thanks to my family for helping bring the joy of drawing back.’ Henry kindly sent us one of his creations, inspired by the Swiss mountains. Our three winners receive an Oris Collector’s Box. Thank you to everyone who shared stories. They put a smile on our faces – and we hope these stories have made you smile, too.
